Farsley 2 Droylsden 1
FARSLEY came from a goal down to beat promotion rivals Droylsden in Evo-Stik Division One North at a damp and windswept Throstle Nest.
Recent signing Andy Welsh made his debut on the left side of the midfield and he was soon contributing. It was a Welsh through ball that found Aiden Savory in a good position but the striker’s touch let him down. Welsh then fed Lewis Nightingale, who was denied by the Bloods’ keeper.
The home side were creating plenty of chances in the first quarter of the game and Savory also had a shot saved.
Kieron Kenny put the visitors in the lead ten minutes before half-time but Farsley were back on the offensive after the break. Adam Priestley created an opening for Nightingale but his shot was deflected over and Priestley 's shot went straight at the Bloods' keeper following a defensive mix-up.
The home side got back into the game when Alastair Brown put through his own net just after the hour and Savory turned the game with the winning goal 11 minutes from time.
Farsley boss Neil Parsley said: “We had to be patient but it was an excellent win against one of our great rivals.
"Droylsden looked every bit a top-four team. They played well but I thought they scored against the run of play.
“We got back into the game with a fortunate own goal but Aiden took his goal really well.”
