Bradford Park Avenue 1 Kidderminster Harriers 4
There will be no FA Trophy second round meeting with former manager Lee Sinnott’s Altrincham after Avenue were knocked out of the competition with an emphatic scoreline by Conference Premier Kidderminster Harriers tonight.
It seemed like a decent opening for the home side with Danny Frost cutting inside but firing over from 25 yards before Chib Chilaka played Frost in again only for his second attempt of the night to be blocked.
After that Harriers were a goal in front after just nine minutes. Marvin Johnson, who scored the winner in last season’s FA Cup replay win at Kidderminster, ended a bustling run with a neat finish.
Just ten minutes later the visitors doubled their lead when Josh Gowling headed in a Craig Reid corner. Avenue tried to get back into it before the break but a Joe Colbeck free kick hit the wall, Chilaka was denied by a good save and Lamin Colley hit a shot wide.
There was an early chance for Avenue in the second half but Chilaka was again denied by the Harriers’ keeper.
Minutes before the hour mark Callum Gittings curled a superb effort into the top corner and Reid drilled in a low shot to make it 4-0 in the 69th minute.
Frost grabbed Avenue’s consolation when he stabbed in from close range after a late free-kick was delivered into the area.
But it is Harriers who will host Altrincham in the next round.
