WEST Yorkshire League heavyweights Field are now 13 points clear in the Premier Division.
However, they were losing twice at Horbury Town before winning 3-2, grabbing the decisive goal with 15 minutes left.
Curtis McMahon, Chris Wood and Andy Hawker were on target for Field, whose first-team coach and secretary Barry Dunne said: "It was a tough match and Horbury were a good team who played to their strengths with a pair of pacy strikers. It was a boggy pitch and we had to dig in to get the result."
Baildon Trinity Athletic were also facing top-flight opposition but could not match Ripon City's furious start in their 2-0 League Cup defeat in North Yorkshire.
Despite the hosts sitting in a relegation spot, they proved that they still have desire. They came out of the blocks at some pace and Division Two promotion-chasers Baildon had to defend furiously for the first 15 minutes.
The visitors were rocked by an early goal following a simple through ball, and statuesque defending was again a problem as they conceded a second goal, this time form a set-piece.
But the remainder of the half was on an equal footing, Baildon squandering several chances.
Athletic made changes at half-time and they began to have more of an impact on the game, with both Ben Craven and Louis Francis pushing the Ripon defence hard.
But Baildon continued to finish poorly, although there were also some quality saves from both the Ripon goalkeeper and Baildon's custodian John Lamb.
The game closed with Baildon in the ascendancy but it was too little too late.
The matches involving Wyke Wanderers at Aberford Albion in Division One and Baildon Trinity Athletic Reserves and Middleton Park Reserves and Wyke Wanderers Reserves and Horbury Town Reserves in Alliance Division Two were postponed.
