Guiseley boss Mark Bower is continuing with his recruitment but he has ruled out the possibility of Nicky Boshell linking up with his brother Danny again.

Former Leeds United defender and Bradford City loanee Ben Parker and Danny Hall have both committed for another season at Nethermoor, and Adam Boyes has been landed on a permanent deal.

However, Bradford Park Avenue’s Nicky Boshell is unlikely to return for a second spell with the Lions, even though elder brother Danny in now assistant player-manager.

Bower said: “I can dismiss any speculation that Nicky is coming to us because, as far as I know, he is staying at Park Avenue.”

The two Bradford-born brothers played together for just one season at Nethermoor after Nicky left Avenue to sign for Guiseley.

There was a fall out between Danny and the Lions’ then-manager Steve Kittrick, and at the end of that campaign Danny was moved on to Lee Sinnott’s Altrincham, while Avenue boss John Deacey tempted Nicky back to Horsfall Stadium.

When Bower replaced Kittrick six games into last term, he got Danny back and installed him as his number two. They also tried to get Nicky back but failed and now appear to have moved on.

“There has been a lot of talk about it only being a matter of time before Nicky ended up back here, but that’s not the case,” added Bower.

“We did make moves to re-sign him. We put three bids in for him last season but they were all rejected. I think he will be staying (at Park Avenue) for this season as well so that puts an end to the speculation.

“I believe Park Avenue have taken up their option to keep him for another year.”

Bower is delighted to get Boyes who he brought in on loan from Gateshead last season. He made a big impact scoring 15 goals in 24 games as the Lions reached the play offs.

The manager added: “We had competition for his signature and it raised eyebrows that we got him but he enjoyed his time here last season and wants to help us go one better in the new season.”
