With the league season now completed, all that remains in the West Riding County Amateur League are the Premier Division and Division One cup finals.
Both were due to be played on Saturday at Campion's Manningham Mills ground, with the Division One final between Wakefield City and Hunsworth starting at 1pm to be followed by the Premier Division final at 4pm.
The plans had to be changed, however, when Campion, who beat Bay Athletic 2-1 on Monday night to qualify to play champions Ovenden West Riding, knew that to play on the Saturday would leave them with a weak side.
This was because prior arrangements had been made by their manager James Bicknell to get married, and many of his team would be away as guests.
So the league took the decision to bring forward the final, which will now be played tomorrow at Manningham Mills (6.45pm), and Campion, who ended up in third place, will be looking to give their boss the perfect wedding present by lifting the trophy and denying their Halifax neighbours the chance to complete the double. .
Wakefield City and Division One champions Hunsworth will contest their final on Saturday but with a 2pm kick-off at the same ground..
Last night's results - Premier Division: Bay Athletic 4 (K Gayle, S P Darjo, G McLachlan, T Brennan), Halifax Irish 2 (Gareth Jones 2). Division Two: Steeton Reserves 2 (R Bailey 2), Wibsey 4 (M Burke, D O'Donnell, J Armitage, C Mortimer).
