Eccleshill United are planning for the future to build on one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history.
The Eagles won the West Riding County FA Senior Cup and finished runners-up in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Cup, while also pushing for promotion from Division One.
Now they have announced the formation of a new Junior Blues section for children of all ages, starting next season.
The plan is to develop a recognised progression through the age groups, hopefully culminating in first-team football.
Club spokesman David Cope said: “Eccleshill Junior Blues will be for the community.
“It’s aim will be to provide a holistically safe and fun environment for children of all ages from Eccleshill and the surrounding areas to learn and participate in organised football.
“The focus will be not to coach the British style of football – the physical hard-tackling and high balls. It is important to develop young players to be technically better so when they get older they can play any style.
“We believe the passing game is the most relevant game in the world at the moment and it’s important to start young to get the passing right. All coaches will be FA certified with an evolving outlook of football.”
