Brighouse Town have headed off possible interest in their manager after the club landed the Toolstation Northern Counties East League championship.
Town boss Paul Quinn has a good pedigree as his father Gerry managed Altrincham in the Conference Premier, among other clubs, and is showing signs that he will one day manage at the same level as his dad.
But he will be remaining at Brighouse for the time being, with club chairman Ray McLaughlin explaining: “We got Quinny tied down to a new deal eight weeks ago, a long time before the season ended.
“We have got everything in place, with the coaching staff all happy to stay on and take the club forward.
“It is not just the first team that has a good management team as we feel we have good people throughout the club and the player development will continue if we keep everyone together.”
The dust has begun to settle following the Premier Division title win but Brighouse are not standing still in the close season.
It promises to be a busy summer for Quinn, his coaches and the committee ahead of their first campaign following promotion.
McLaughlin said: “The Evo-Stik League’s annual meeting is in the middle of June and we are requested to attend, so I suppose our promotion all becomes official then. The NCE League AGM is the same day, so we have to be there as well.
“The trophy we got after we won the league was not the original one, so we had to give that one back and be presented with the proper one. We have to give that back and officially resign from the league to take our place in the Evo-Stik League.
“Last season’s winners were Scarborough Athletic and they got a place in Evo-Stik Division One South, although we believe that was a request from them. We hope to be put into the North Division because it would be better for travelling from where we are.
“A lot of work has already gone on behind the scenes as we get ready for that. Quinny has most of the players on board and a few irons in the fire to give the squad a bit more depth, which we feel we will need for the higher division.
“The rest of us are working on increasing revenue, getting more sponsors involved and generally improving the infrastructure of the club. It will be hard work but we’re looking forward to it.”
