Bradford City face one of their toughest games of the season as they travel to champions-elect Sheffield in the FA Women’s Premier League (North) on Sunday with the runners-up spot still in their sights.
Sheffield have been beaten only once this season but City are in outstanding form and even a draw will guarantee them second place if Nottingham Forest lose at home to Preston.
City moved up to third with a 3-1 win over Sporting Albion last time out, despite conceding after just 22 seconds. Sarah Danby quickly equalised and two goals from Molly Sharpe secured the points.
If results do not go well for the City first team, they have another chance to push for that runners-up spot when they take on Wolves at Valley Parade next week, before concluding their season at Preston.
City’s second string will have a close eye on Forest’s final reserve-team game at Newcastle. Forest top the table on goal difference from City, who have completed their fixtures, but a two-goal win for Newcastle will hand City the championship.
Meanwhile, it has not been quite the season Leeds United hoped for. They go to Derby County in last place knowing that only a win will give them any chance of avoiding relegation.
