As the West Riding County Amateur League season draws to a close, there are still a few issues still to be decided.
With Premier Division leaders Ovenden West Riding’s game at Steeton on Wednesday night postponed until next Tuesday, a 3-1 victory for second-placed Bay Athletic at relegated Lepton Highlanders increased the pressure on the title favourites.
Ovenden must win on Saturday when they entertain Storthes Hall at Natty Lane. Any other result would let last season’s champions – who have played one game fewer – in with a chance of snatching the title from the Halifax side.
A win for Bay, who entertain Ovenden’s near neighbours Halifax Irish, would confirm relegation for the Irishmen.
Tyersal will bring their season to a conclusion tomorrow night with a trip to Hall Green United.
Wednesday results – Premier Division: Huddersfield YMCA 3, Golcar United 0; Lepton Highlanders 1, Bay Athletic 3; Storthes Hall 4, Halifax Irish 1. Division One: Bay Athletic Res 3, Wibsey 5; Campion Res 0, West Horton 1. Division Two: Littletown Res 1, Lower Hopton Res 3.
