Garry Thompson is on his way out of City after being told he will not get a new contract.
The 33-year-old winger scored 11 goals in 102 appearances, including the famous volley in the Capital One Cup win over Arsenal last season. He recently headed the late winner against Crawley in City’s final home game.
Phil Parkinson said: “We wish Thommo all the best. He’s made a good contribution and has been a great lad to have around.”
Defender Matthew Bates has also been released after playing 23 times last season, as well as youngster Louie Swain.
Youth-team skipper Jack Stockdill and fellow second-year trainees Jack Bentley and Nathan Curtis will also not be offered pro deals.
