Bradford Park Avenue boss John Deacey is hoping the extra rest his squad have had due to last Saturday’s postponement will pay dividends tomorrow.
Deacey would have been without five of his first-team players last week but four of them could be back for the visit of basement outfit Workington in the Conference North.
The Horsfall outfit hope skipper Nathan Hotte, recent signing Ross Gard-ner, long-term absentee Martin Drury and Jordan Deacey will all be in contention following 12 days of extra recuperation.
One player definitely sidelined will be centre back James Knowles because three of Bradford’s last four fixtures have been called off.
Knowles has been sitting out a four-match ban but has served just one of those games, the 2-0 defeat at home to Stockport County. That game a week last Monday was Avenue’s last run-out but tomorrow’s visitors will be no better off for match fitness as they have not played this month due to the wet winter.
Workington last saw action on January 25 but it was a confidence-boosting 1-1 draw against
promotion-chasing Brackley Town. That was a rare point for the club that are propping up the table and currently 12 points off safety after banking just three from the last 30 available.
Avenue may have lost to Stockport in their only game this month but they have won three of their last six league games. A draw in that sequence means Dea-cey’s men have taken ten points from a possible 18 since the turn of the year.
Ashley Timms will be on the bench tomorrow after the much-travelled keeper was signed during the week to give John Lamb competition.
