Guiseley boss Mark Bower is hoping his side finally get to play on home soil this year when Worcester City visit on Saturday.

The last time the Lions played at home was on December 21 against Altrincham in Skrill Conference North.

Since then they have lost four home league fixtures to the weather, as well as one away.

There was another postponement when their West Riding County Cup semi-final derby at Eccleshill United on Wednesday was called off, and Guiseley have done some midweek work to try and improve the drainage at Nethermoor.

Bower said: “It’s becoming the norm. We see rain on a matchday and we know it’s off.

“There’s nothing we can do as managers and players though. We can’t look at that, we have just got to prepare as though it’s on and do everything properly.”

Guiseley are looking to consolidate tenth place in the table after experiencing back-to-back defeats - their first losses in the league since the beginning of October.

The latest defeat was at second-placed AFC Telford, and defender Danny Hall picked up an injury that will rule him out this weekend.

Bower said: “I think Danny will miss a couple of games. He had to come off in the first half at Telford with a strained hamstring but, apart from that, we’re injury-free.

“It will be tough against Worcester. Since Bradford Park Avenue beat them comfortably, they haven’t lost in the league. They have got a few new faces in and have been in decent form.

“They signed a couple of lads at six foot-plus and that has added physical presence and strength to their line up.

“We went there in November and came away with a point but they played very well that day. They might be below us in the league but we know we will have to be at our best if we are to get a win.”
