Farsley face a stern test at one of their promotion rivals on Saturday as they head into Lancashire for a roses clash with Bamber Bridge.

The Preston-based outfit currently occupy the final Division One North play-off place (fifth) in the Evo-Stik League but are ahead of neighbours Lancaster City on goal difference only.

Farsley are third and just three points off the summit, but they have played two games more than leaders Warrington Town and four more than second-placed Curzon Ashton.

The villagers were held to a home draw by Northwich Victoria in terrible conditions last weekend but coming back from 2-1 down saw them extend their unbeaten run to 15 games in all competitions.

Manager Neil Parsley said: “I think there should be a case for games being postponed when the conditions are as bad as they were last Saturday. The wind made it a lottery and ruined it for the spectators.

“But I thought we did well for most of the game, and the important thing was that we kept our run going as that breeds confidence.

“It will be a tough game at Bamber Bridge because they are very much in the hunt for the play-offs. I think there are seven or eight real contenders, so this will be a big game and the outcome could be crucial come the end of the season.

“We came through the Northwich game with no new injuries, so we have a clean bill of health. Going into this stage of the season with a fully-fit squad is as much as we could ask.”
