Solihull Moors 0, Guiseley 3
Guiseley put their recent weather woes behind them with an emphatic victory on the road tonight.
The Lions, who had seen their last four Skrill Conference North fixtures washed out, travelled to Solihull Moors and got back on track with a maximum.
Two goals either side of the break put them in control and, despite being under pressure at times, they made the game safe 11 minutes from time.
It was a close game but Guiseley created the majority of the chances and took them, beginning when defender Danny Hall scored from close range following a set-piece just before the break.
Early in the second half, Jake Lawlor made it 2-0. and the visitors wrapped it up with a classic counter-attack.
The Moors had forced a 79th-minute corner but the Lions broke away and Wayne Brooksby netted the third.
Lions boss Mark Bower said: “It was a fantastic performance - thoroughly professional.
“We got a couple of goals from set-pieces against a team that were unbeaten at home all season.
"The lads have been frustrated (by recent postponements), and it has been made worse by everyone else playing, but we haven’t had to keep lifting them because they know the script.”
Brighouse Town were also winners tonight as they banked three points in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 4-1 home victory over Armthorpe Welfare.
Town moved up to fifth but had to come from a goal down after the visitors’ Henry Sibanda had opened the scoring.
Goals from Ernest Boafo and Danny Naidole gave the home side a half-time lead, and Boafo netted in the second half before James Hurtley completed the scoring four minutes from time.
In the same division, Albion Sports, who were leapfrogged by Brighouse Town tonight, host Barton Town Old Boys tomorrow night, looking for the win that would take them back into the top four.
