AFC Blackpool 2, Silsden 2
Silsden earned a point from their North West Counties League trip to the seaside – but it could have been a more rewarding day out had it not been for a late lapse.
The Cobbydalers are looking to distance themselves from the relegation-threatened Premier Division clubs, so an away draw is not a bad result.
But after coming from a goal down to lead at the interval, they had begun to dream of more.
Both sides had early chances, with AFC Blackpool being denied when Martin Baird’s header struck the bar.
The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when a through-ball split the Silsden defence and Matt Muscroft netted.
The game was soon turned on its head thanks to a ten-minute brace from Chris Wademan for the Cobbydalers.
He controlled a cross from Kristian Hargreaves to slot in from inside the area and then, just before the interval, drew the home keeper before sliding a shot inside the post.
Blackpool put the visitors’ defence under a lot of pressure in the second half, although Silsden also had their moments.
In a brief spell just after the hour mark they had three chances to extend their lead.
And the failure to do so proved costly as Mitchell Newsham raced on to a high through-ball ten minutes from time to score the equaliser.
