Albion Sports reached the 50-point mark in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a sound away victory.
Kulwinder Sandhu’s men headed to Pickering Town, another club who were looking to reach the milestone, and overhauled them 3-0 to climb from ninth to sixth place.
Albion were 2-0 up at the break after two headers by winger Lee Elam, who is not renowned for his aerial prowess. He put the visitors in front when converting Liam Ormsby’s ball into the danger area and also got his head to a Sam Redhead cross.
The only goal of the second half was scored by Danny Facey and that put the gloss on his side’s victory.
Sandhu said: “It was a good game and a good win against an in-form Pickering side. They had a very good chance when it was 0-0 but we did well to restrict them after that.
“Danny got his goal but he could have had more because he had a few chances; a couple of one-on-ones that he usually does better with. But we are happy with a 3-0 from a tough away fixture like this.”
Albion made the most of their neighbours being washed out. Thackley’s home derby against Brighouse was postponed, so Albion are now above Brighouse and just two points behind Thackley having played the same number of games.
Eccleshill United also enjoyed an away victory and reached 50 points as they moved back up to fifth in Division One with a 2-0 win.
The Eagles beat Grimsby Borough with a goal in each half, both from Daniel Holowaty.
He broke the deadlock after Eccleshill had toiled to unlock the home defence and there was more frustration in the second half.
The Eagles searched for a second goal but were denied by the woodwork and some solid defending before Halowaty netted again late on.
