Guiseley boss Mark Bower says he cannot blame centre back Adam Lockwood for opting for a return to the Football League with Oldham Athletic.
The Lions have been boosted by the return to full fitness of defender Danny Hall and striker Danny Forrest for their FA Trophy third-round clash at Aldershot this afternoon.
Hall’s return is timely, with Lockwood having exited Nethermoor last week. He was on the bench for Oldham’s FA Cup third-round defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.
Bower said: “We made Adam a good offer to stay but he goes with our best wishes.
“I am grateful for the way he came in and helped us when we were short of centre backs.
“His attitude was first class and he was a real leader on the field.
“We always knew he wanted to get back into the Football League if the chance arose and it can’t be bad going to Anfield for your first game.”
Guiseley will not be looking for a replacement.
Bower said: “Jake Lawlor and Ben Parker have proved that they can slot in there while Danny Hall is now back to full fitness and Danny Ellis is just a couple of weeks away from being ready to play again.
“In the coming weeks we face a hectic schedule with so many games to fit in so we need to have as many options available as possible.”
