Burnley are understood to be among the clubs keeping tabs on the Nahki Wells situation.
The Clarets were linked with the City striker during the August window and are now considering whether to join the race. Championship rivals Middlesbrough are also thought to be watching the situation.
But there is no foundation to reports that Nottingham Forest have been in contact.
We revealed yesterday that an unnamed Premier League club are tracking Wells – not understood to be Aston Villa – and that Wolves had dropped out of the race.
Huddersfield are favourites with the bookies to land him but Leeds are also still keen after promises of new investment coming through.
