Basford United 1, Brighouse Town 3
Brighouse Town came from a goal down at Basford United tonight to earn a place in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Cup third round.
The home side broke the deadlock early when Theo Smith netted in the eighth minute, but Brighouse were level before the break thanks to Max Leonard’s strike just after the half-hour mark.
Basford had begun well but Town had wrestled control away and pressed that home in the second half.
Joe Jagger put the visitors in front 15 minutes from time, and Ryan Hall was on the end of a very well- crafted counter-attack to make the tie safe in the 86th minute.
Town spokesman Ray McLaughlin said: “Both managers rested three or four players but it was a very competitive game.
"We are delighted to go through, and we will play Long Eaton United at home in the next round.”
