Home advantage didn’t help Premier Division Albion Sports in last night’s derby tie against Division One side Eccleshill United in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Cup.
Albion took the lead through Delroy Facey but the Eagles came back with three late goals. Ishmeal Mills levelled the second-round tie in the 70th minute and Adam McCabe put the Eagles in front for the first time soon after.
Albion had a glorious opportunity to equalise when they were awarded a penalty five minutes from time but they were thwarted by the visitors’ keeper.
Aaron Sanchez rubbed salt into the wounds when he netted the Eagles’ third in the last minute.
Brighouse Town travel to Basford United in the Premier Division tonight.
Town’s promotion push has been stalled by two postponements from their last three fixtures but Basford are on a roll and won 3-1 at Albion a week last Saturday, their former Bradford City midfielder Lee Hendrie setting up their first goal and pulling the strings in the centre of the park.
