St Bede’s finally broke their duck at the ninth time of asking as they picked up a first Senior B division point from a 1-1 draw at home to Farnley Sports in the Yorkshire Amateur League.

Goalkeeper Ian Horrocks proved to be the star man for Saints with a series of remarkable saves, although his opposite number also excelled to deny Dale Ramsey and two other chances were cleared off the line.

Wayne Campbell had given St Bede’s the lead after 20 minutes but Farnley equalised in the second half through Andy Punton and the fifth-placed visitors also had an effort disallowed for offside.

Farnley are now seven points behind leaders Stanningley Old Boys Reserves, who moved top with a 4-2 home win over mid-table Beeston OB thanks to two goals apiece from John Mallinson and Luke Harrop.

Grangefield OB were knocked off the Senior A section summit as a 2-1 defeat at Leeds Medics & Dentists lifted the home side out of the bottom two.

Grangefield’s second successive defeat saw them surrender top spot on goal difference to Ealandians, who beat second-bottom Old Modernians 3-0.

Grangefield OB Reserves maintained their Division Two title challenge with a 5-0 success at home to Woodhouse Moor Methodists.

It was 1-0 at half-time and Grangefield never looked like surrendering that lead as goals from wingers Chris Pearson (2) and Sam Russell were supported by Glen Metcalfe and Aiden Kearsley.

St Bedes OB Reserves remain in relegation danger after a 4-0 defeat at Leeds Medics & Dentists Fourths, for whom Fergus Machin struck twice.

Division Three bottom side Calverley United Reserves picked up three welcome points with a 3-0 win against promotion hopefuls Middleton Park Reserves, had two men sent off. Tom Atkins netted two of the goals.
