Farsley will be keen to get back into action tomorrow after being frustrated by a waterlogged pitch at the weekend.

Neil Parsley’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Harrogate Railway Athletic in Boxing Day’s derby clash. That result cost Farsley second place in Evo-Stik League Division One North and inactivity on Saturday, when they were due to travel to Ramsbottom United, allowed Curzon Ashton to open up a four-point gap.

Curzon, the new holders of second spot, also have three games in hand on Farsley. Leaders Warrington Town are a point further clear having played the same number of games as Parsley’s side.

Farsley’s run of seven straight victories was ended by Harrogate but they are still unbeaten in eight and are hot favourites to bank another win today when they host Ossett Albion.

The visitors are propping up the table, eight points adrift of second-bottom Radcliffe Borough. Albion have a game in hand on Boro and although they do not have the worst goals conceded record, they are the lowest scorers in the division by far.

Parsley was delighted to announce a clean bill of health after the draw at Harrogate and feels that the unexpected rest on Saturday will have helped the players he and his assistants have been carefully managing through some tough weeks.

Farsley cannot allow standards to slip as the top of the table is so tight. Four clubs from them down are separated by just three points, so a defeat could see Parsley’s men out of the play-off frame.
