Fairbank United gave themselves a happy end to the year with a surprise 3-2 victory at second-placed BD3 United in the Spen Valley League Premier Division.
Shoaib Hussain, Tufail Ahmed and Naveed Khan were on target for the winners in this Bradford derby, which helped them climb from ninth to sixth.
Vision and Girlington had a nine-goal thriller in the other top-flight match, the hosts being edged out 5-4.
It wasn’t a good day for second-placed clubs as Savile United also went down at home in the First Division, eighth-placed Smokin Aces notching the shock win this time to rise two places.
In the Sonder Heating & Ventilation Cup, Howden Clough had two hat-trick heroes in their 7-2 victory at Cleckheaton Sporting in Group A – Jay Stainburn and Simon Moore. The tally was made up by Joe Armitage.
Andrew Shingleton’s goal gave Marsh a 1-0 win at George Healey, while, in Group B, Norfolk stayed top after a 1-1 draw at Inter Batley, for whom Ramzan Mazher scored.
