With the original West Riding County Amateur League fixture list reduced for last Saturday as grounds were unavailable, Friday night's heavy rain added to the casualties, including the top-of-the-table Premier Division clash between third-placed Steeton and leaders Ovenden West Riding.
However, both Steeton and Ovenden agreed that if Ovenden’s ground at Natty Lane was passed fit, they would switch the fixture, and referee Alan Clough decided that the ground was playable.
With top spot up for grabs, both sides adapted to the slippery conditions and for an hour, until Ovenden were reduced to ten players by having Andrew Bailey sent off, honours were even.
Despite the additional player, Steeton failed to capitalise and John Booth netted the only goal to give West Riding a 1-0 victory and a three-point advantage over second-placed Littletown.
The clash between Salts and Halifax Irish proved to be just as even, with Matthew Bailey’s first-half goal giving his side the points with a 1-0 victory.
Hunsworth started the second half of their Division One campaign by regaining the leadership from Ventus Yeadon Celtic, and in doing so took their tally of goals in their 14 league games to 66, by beating visitors Overthorpe Sports Club 9-2.
Joel Farrar, with a treble, Andrew Wood and Stuart McCallum, with two apiece, to add to Dale Wright and Curtis McCallum's goals, caused the damage, whilst Elliott Brook scored both Overthorpe consolations.
Lower Hopton stepped up their bid for a promotion spot with two goals each from Nathan Alexander and Luke Peacock to compliment Adam Walsh and Declan James' strikes they beat Steeton Reserves 6-0.
DRAM Community stay top of Division Two, a point ahead of Dudley Hill Rangers, after drawing 2-2 with Golcar United Reserves, while Thornes moved into third, and continued their bid to be promoted in their first season, with a 2-1 success at Ovenden West Riding Reserves.
