Lee Peltier says there is a real air of belief around Leeds United these days.

The attacking wing-back, who scored his first goal for the club in their 1-1 draw at Blackpool yesterday, said: “We have a good spirit. Everyone is pulling in the same direction.

“There’s a great feeling around the club at the minute.”

United travel to Nottingham Forest on Sunday in a play-off berth in the Sky Bet Championship and on a five-game unbeaten run, and Peltier added; “There’s a lot more positivity around the place.

“The fans are more positive and hopefully we’ll be up there at the end of the season.”

With the trip to Blackpool just behind them, a visit to Forest ahead of them and a home match against Blackburn on New Year’s Day on the horizon, Peltier is not worried by fixture congestion.

“I’d rather play like this,” said the player who broke his scoring duck in his 67th first-team appearance.

“There are a lot of points up for grabs and hopefully we can take points from them.

“With the backing Forest have, they’re expected to be up there, but we’ll look to win the game. However, we can’t look too far ahead.”

Peltier’s goal – a far-post header from a Danny Pugh cross – will have delighted Leeds manager Brian McDermott.

Peltier said: “I was pleased to score. The gaffer has been trying to get me in the box more.

“It was a great ball in and I was buzzing. You want to get it back across goal when it comes at you like that, and I’m delighted it went in.”
