Mark Bower has promised Guiseley will be a much more difficult proposition when Lee Sinnott’s Altrincham arrive for their return Conference North clash.

The Lions will be hunting for revenge after a 4-1 mauling at Moss Lane earlier in the season.

It was Bower’s fifth game in charge and a fifth loss but since then Guiseley have gone 13 games without defeat, winning 11 and landing him the manager of the month award for November.

He said: “In that last game what could go wrong did go wrong and the second half was the most forgettable 45 minutes I’ve had in football.

“It was a disaster, with so many individual mistakes after we had played well in the first half and deserved our 1-0 lead.

“Lee is a very good, very experienced manager and he turned the game by changing the tactics at half-time. He would have been pleased with that but we come into this game a lot stronger, so they will be facing a different Guiseley to the one they blew away that day.”

The Lions are ninth in the table, just two places lower than Altrincham, but their visitors are only four points off top spot with a game in hand.

Guiseley’s confidence will be high after five straight victories in all competitions, while Alty have lost their only two league fixtures so far this month.

Bower does have injury concerns but defender Rhys Meynell returns from a one-match suspension. Long-term absentee Danny Ellis is sidelined as are Jack Rea and Danny Lockwood.

Bower said: “We also lost Danny Forrest to a hamstring injury in the first half against Park Avenue last week. I can’t see him or the two that missed that game being ready to come back for Saturday.

“We do have Rhys back available but we are struggling to fill the bench at the moment.

“We had two of the Academy lads among the substitutes last Saturday and we will have to check on their fixtures to make sure we can take some of the young lads this weekend.”
