Gusieley have been handed a tough tie against Conference Premier outfit Aldershot in the last 16 of the FA Trophy.
The Shots are struggling in the country’s fifth division and are currently fourth bottom – which is a relegation place.
The Lions, however, are rocketing up the Conference North table and on an unbeaten 13-match run – 11 of which have been victories.
Lions boss Mark Bower said of the third-round draw: “It will be a difficult tie but at this stage of the competition they all will be.
“To get one of the big Conference clubs away from home, involving all the travelling and logistics, is not what we wanted but we put FC Halifax Town out so there is some hope for us.
“It’s even difficult checking on them because of the distance but we will see their fixture-list and hope they have some games up north before we have to play the Trophy tie against them.
“It will be a game our players will enjoy but it isn’t until January so we have the busy Christmas period to look at first.”
