Thackley missed another chance to re-establish their promotion credentials in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division when they lost 4-0 at Barton Town Old Boys.
Their hosts were in second place but the Dennyboys could have overhauled them with an away win.
But it was Barton who strengthened their position with a comfortable victory, despite Thackley having most of the possession.
Town broke the deadlock early, with Jonny Slater on target in the 11th minute, but that was the only goal of the first half.
Luke Thompson and Ryan Cooper scored within a minute of each other soon after the break, and Cooper added the fourth.

The visitors took a first-half lead but late strikes from Alex Brisbane and Ishmeal Mills saw the Eagles through to a 2-1 win.
