Premier Division status counted for everything when the Spen Valley League switched their focus to cup matches.
League leaders Route One Rovers triumphed 3-0 at Division One Howden Clough in the Sonder Heating and Ventilation Cup, while second-placed BD3 United thrashed lowly top-flight rivals West Park United 7-1, with BD3’s marksmen including Tuseif Arshad (2), Kabeer Hamid (2), Arun Basi and Shamraiz Hussain. Javeed Mohammed got the sole reply.
TVR, who are third in the Premier, also progressed, defeating BD3 United Reserves 4-1 with efforts from Asif Iqbal, Waleed Rajid, Faisal Shabbir and Haseeb Rehman.
Ravensthorpe Bulls, who are fourth in the Premier, were made to sweat, however, before they defeated Division One promotion contenders Savile United 4-3.
Paddy Davies (2), Paul Beaumont and Dominic Simpson spared the Bulls’ blushes, while Girlington, who are a place below them, won 6-2 at George Healey with goals from Adeeb (3), Shoaib, Adil and Zohaib, Luke Newsome bagging a brace for the losers.
Fairbank United were also tested before triumphing 2-1 at second-tier strugglers Savile Town.
Abundant Life Church also avoided a shock in the Spen Valley Challenge Trophy, the mid-table top-flight side winning 4-1 at basement club Dewsbury.
