Nostell MW 1 Albion Sports 2
Albion Sports snapped out of their recent malaise to register a victory but they toiled to their win at Nostell MW.
The home side are propping up the rest in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division but Albion still struggled to get over the line.
They scored after just 13 minutes when Thomas Dugdale’s shot was turned into his own net by Nostell defender Jack Hill and Dugdale turned provider just four minutes later as his corner was headed home by James Stansfield.
Nostell scored through Matthew Johnson but it was merely a consolation as it came in the 88th minute.
Albion boss Kulwinder Sandhu knew his side had been fortunate to get the victory.
He said: “They started well and could have been 2-0 up but we were lucky because Tom’s shot took a big, big deflection. We had a few chances in the second half but we never really gave their keeper much to do, we huffed and puffed.
“To be honest they deserved something from the game, they played well and gave us problems. But we will take the win.
“At least we have stopped the rot of three defeats and getting out of a run like that is all that’s important. When you look back it doesn’t matter how it came about.”
