There was another full house for Bradford City’s women as all three senior teams took maximum points with a goals aggregate of 19 for and just two against.

The first team travelled to Newcastle United and secured a fine 4-0 win that lifted them into mid-table in the northern section of the FA Women’s Premier League with games in hand on all the clubs above them.

Sarah Danby (2), Chantelle O’Hara and Becky Kendell were the City scorers.

It is back to League Cup action on Sunday against well-placed Stoke in a group game at Thackley.

City’s second string faced an awkward derby clash at lowly Huddersfield in the FA Premier League reserve section but emerged 5-2 winners to retain top spot.

Ellie Swinhoe (2), Abi Garland, Mel Garside-Wight and an own goal accounted for the City scoring, while Laura Porritt and Melissa Sutcliffe replied for Town.

City’s reserves are also in cup group action on Sunday as they entertain their Newcastle counterparts at Apperley Bridge.

Completing the City ‘hat-trick’ were the A team, who are enjoying a storming first season.

They romped to a 10-0 win against joint-leaders Middleton Park and now face Wetherby Athletic’s reserves, the only other unbeaten side in this division.

In the North East Regional League, Guiseley’s promotion hopes in the Premier section took another knock when they crashed 7-3 at home to leaders Norton & Stockton Ancients. Amanda Barr, Tanya Rich and Caroline Hulme scored for Guiseley.

There was better news in Division One (South) for Ossett Albion. Top scorer Nicky Swift, with her 12th goal of the season, and former Bradford stalwart Claire Popplewell repeated their previous week’s scoring effort for Albion as they followed up a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday to beat Westella & Willerby 2-1 and continue their climb under player-manager Nicky Davies.

Despite only one defeat in the last seven, Albion’s recent run could come under fire from undefeated Brighouse Town – beaten in the FA Women’s Cup at Whitley Bay last week – when the two sides meet at Dimple Wells. Brighouse, formerly Kirklees Ladies, are six points off the top with three games in hand.

Huddersfield upset the form book with a 6-1 win at Chorley in the FAW Cup first round thanks to a second-half goal spree. Keeper Charlotte Oates had to be on top form to keep it at 1-1 by half-time but Emily Heckler (2), Shauna Messenger, Dominique Balmond and an own goal then added to Alice Linsell’s first-half strike.

In the second round, on January 12, Town will be at home to Coventry – but they are back in Northern Combination League action this weekend as they return to Chorley for a key promotion battle.

The second-round draw has also paired Bradford with Blackpool Wren Rovers, while Leeds go to Loughborough Students.

Bradford Park Avenue and Ossett Town continue to struggle in the West Riding League Premier Division.

A 5-3 home defeat to Brayton sees Ossett still looking for a first win and a trip to Keighley Oaks is another tough game.

Avenue went down 3-2 at home to Brighouse Sports. Jayde Nelson and Sannon Doherty scored in a stirring second half but they could not quite salvage a point and now face leaders Harrogate Railway.

Division Two side Dewsbury Rangers disappointingly went down 4-1 at home to a depleted Rothwell Town and in Division Three, while Bradford City A march on, Norristhopre slipped out of the promotion race with a 2-1 loss at Brighouse Sports’ reserves.
