Bradford Sunday Alliance League stalwart Brian Goodall has been presented with a special award to mark his 50 years of service to football.

Goodall played for Sutton Rovers from the mid-1950s and first registered as a referee in 1964, officiating continuously until the current season.

He was secretary of the Bradford Amateur Football League and was instrumental in the 1985 amalgamation with the Bradford District League to form the Bradford Sunday Alliance League, which has provided football for local clubs ever since.

Goodall, who has served the league in many roles and is currently fixtures secretary, is a life member of the Bradford & District FA, having begun his service in 1979.

He served as secretary from 1983-1988 and president from 1994-2005. He is also a life vice-president of the West Riding County FA.

Meanwhile, semi-final places are up for grabs for Sunday Alliance League clubs playing in the Intermediate Cup this weekend.

Sporting Pudsey of Division 2A face a tough test at home to 1B high-fliers Swaine Green in their quarter-final, while third-placed 2B side Cartwright Lister host 2A leaders Oddfellows Celtic.

The winners of those two ties will meet in the last four but the other half of the draw has fallen a little behind.

Alexander FC of Division 1B are through to the quarter-finals but their opponents will not be known until after this weekend, with 1B hosts Beldon Sports taking on Bolton Woods Socials (1A) in the last 16.

There is also plenty of league action and the pick of the fixtures sees Buttershaw White Star, who are second in the Premier Division, visiting fourth-placed Bolton Woods.

Leaders Sandy Lane are at home to relegation-threatened Dudley Hill Rangers, while defending champions West Bowling face a tricky trip to Wyke Wanderers.

Bowling only won by the odd goal in seven in a League Cup tie between the scenes earlier in the season and Wyke have had some decent victories since then.

Top match in Division One sees second-placed Napoleons Casino looking to back up an impressive County Cup win last time out as they entertain Cuedos Rangers, who are fifth.
