Grangefield Old Boys maintained their lead of the Yorkshire Amateur League's Senior A Division, despite letting in two soft goals near the end of their match at bottom club North East Leeds.
Grangefield led 2-0 at half-time thanks to a 25th-minute Nick Smith penalty and a goal on the half-hour from Ritchie Banks, their recent acquisition from Stanningley Old Boys.
The lead was increased after half-time when Matty Tomlinson slid the ball home after great work by Tom Pickup but North East Leeds came back into the game with goals from Rene Ankara and Ross Mackenley.
Gildersome Spurs Old Boys won a thriller 5-2 at Leeds Medics & Dentists thanks to goals from league skipper Matty Jackson (4) and club skipper James Thrush, leaving the winners fourth, eight points behind Grangefield with three games in hand.
Farsley Celtic Juniors, who are sixth, won 4-0 at third-from-bottom Calverley United in Senior B Division, Ben Cooke and Rob Cromack netting inside the first ten minutes, and Cooke and Chris Farrand in the last 20.
Basement club St Bede’s could not christen their superb new facilities at the Samuel Lister Academy in Nab Wood with a victory, losing 8-1 to Stanningley Old Boys’ Reserves.
Bede’s’ new signing David Wright put them ahead but Luke Harrop (3), Jack Kitson, with a bullet header, Gareth Rennard, and substitutes Rob Nicholson (2) and John Mallinson ensured there was no upset.
Stanningley are third but could go top if they win their games in hand.
