The top three sides in the Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division all won at the weekend to open up a gap over the chasing pack.
Fourth-placed Bolton Woods now trail nearest rivals Buttershaw White Star and West Bowling by five points.
Leaders Sandy Lane had a convincing 6-1 victory over visitors Wyke Wanderers, with Danny Hook hitting a hat-trick for the home team, with Reece Windle and Adam Medley also getting on the scoresheet.
White Star also won at a canter when they played their ‘away’ fixture with Thornton United, who share the Manningham Mills complex with them.
The hosts took an early lead but a Jordan Missin penalty restored parity before the interval.
In the second half, Buttershaw were much the better team and ran in further goals from Andy Gallagher, Ben Kendall and Missin to win 4-1.
Bolton Woods had the chance to leapfrog West Bowling in the table but ended up losing 4-2 to their high-flying rivals.
Bowling fell behind in the first half but Joe Jagger and Chris Wood gave the champions a 2-1 lead at the interval.
Second-half strikes by Carl Fawcett and Chris Hanney secured the points before the visitors pulled a goal back with virtually the last kick.
George Hotel and Peel Park could not capitalise on Thornton’s defeat when they shared the points and two goals in a vital relegation battle.
In the First Division, Buttershaw Celtic beat Victoria Rangers 3-0 with strikes by Liam Keeley, Paul Blake and debutant Jamie Brennan to help them stay top of the table.
Allerton and Cuedos Rangers had an eight-goal thriller, with both teams taking a point.
It was back to league action at last for Swaine Green against Great Northern in Division 1B, and an end-to-end encounter ensued, with hosts Swaine Green winning 5-4 thanks to two Andy Lee free-kicks, the second one in the last minute.
John White got Swaine’s first goal, being quickest to react after the visitors’ keeper had saved well from a Lee shot, and Sam Bradley was also on the scoresheet for the hosts, finishing brilliantly from a Kevin Sanasy free-kick.
In Division 2A, Turf and Shoulder of Mutton shared the points.
A free-kick from Wes McCullen was diverted past the visitors’ keeper midway through the second half but Shoulder of Mutton restored parity near the end with a long-range shot.
In Division 2B, top two Toller and Grass Greener United both had comfortable victories, with Toller beating Saltaire Rangers 4-1 and Grass Greener putting seven past Thornton United Reserves, with Rob Coulter and Ben Cawley both hitting hat-tricks for the visitors.
Eccleshill WMC continued their unbeaten start to Division 3A with a victory over top-of-the-table Clayton Sports.
Eccleshill were two goals down but a superb 20-yard overhead kick from Josh Jalali got the hosts moving and a header from Sam Thom levelled things up with five minutes left.
The hosts weren’t finished, however, and Adam Goldsworthy, making his first appearance since August, got the winner with a close-range lob after the keeper had saved well.
In Division 3B, Lyceum netted a 35th-minute penalty at Queens to take the lead, but it was all Queens in the second half.
Karl Ratcliffe made it 1-1 and James Cullen got the winner. Queens’ man of the match was Craig Louch.
