The top three in the Spen Valley League Premier Division all had hefty wins – but they weren’t the division’s leading scorers.

Fifth-placed Girlington took that honour, defeating lowly visitors East Bowling All Stars 8-3.

Goals came from Adeeb (4), Zak (2), Adil and Ismail, Abdullah Ahmed (2) and Nikolas Walker replying.

Leaders Route One Rovers were next best, thrashing Abundant Life Church 7-1 with efforts from Usman Hussain (2), Sohail Fiaz, Kaleem Khan, Mohammed Ali and Ryan O’Donnell and Samial Mahmood, Ryan Mitchell getting Church’s consolation.

Second-placed TVR United won 5-2 at West Park United with goals from Asif Iqbal, Haseeb Rehman, Faisal Shabbir, Mohammed Abid and Ashiq Iqbal, but they were upstaged by third-placed BD3 United’s 6-2 victory at home to fourth-placed Ravensthorpe Bulls, whose marksmen were Steve Hadden and Paul Beaumont.

Arslahn Ramzan’s goal was not enough for Fairbank, who lost a mid-table battle 2-1 at home to Vision.

The big clash in the First Division was the meeting of top two Marsh and BD3 United Reserves, the former winning 3-2 thanks to Scott Newby, Sam Bushell and Mark Wiggley.
