Salford City 2 Farsley 4
Farsley earned a vital win at mid-table Salford to stay in the play off places in Evo-Stik Division One North.
Neil Parsley’s men took an early lead when Matty James opened the scoring following a corner. But minutes later a Paddy Miller block also went for a corner, which resulted in Richard Smith heading the home side level.
Undeterred, Farsley hit back through Adam Priestley – back in the squad following his excursion into international duty with Gibraltar in midweek – to regain the lead before the break.
Miller headed home a Lee Ellington free-kick just after the hour mark to make it 3-1 and Danny Hull, who was on as a late substitute for Ellington, rounded three defenders before finding the net with a fine shot.
The home side were awarded a penalty five minutes from time but Mark Battersby’s spot-kick was merely a consolation.
Parsley said: “It was a very good win for us. If anything I don’t think the result does justification to our performance. They got a late penalty – and it was one, there is no doubt about that – which made it look like a closer game.
“It was disappointing to concede twice given that we controlled most of the game but to be fair, although we conceded from a set-piece early on, it was a very good header from their lad.”
