On-loan defender Danny Hall has made a big impact since joining Guiseley but an ankle injury makes him a doubt for Saturday’s home league clash with Oxford City.
He followed up his debut goal in the 3-2 Skrill North win at Leamington with a stunning strike that helped the Lions beat Histon 3-0 in the FA Trophy.
But his goalscoring streak might have to come to a temporary halt as an ankle injury forced him to leave the action at half-time against Histon and manager Mark Bower is waiting to learn the extent of the problem.
“We don’t know yet how long it will keep him out,” said Bower about his former Darlington team-mate.
“Danny has done really well since he joined us from Celtic Nation but I bet even he has been surprised by his goals.
“He got a thumping header against Leamington and followed it up with a stunning 25-yard volley against Histon. I don’t reckon he will ever have scored a goal like Saturday’s one.”
Jake Lawlor took over from Hall for the second half of the Histon tie and is expected to partner Adam Lockwood at the heart of the defence again.
Hall is the only injury worry for Bower as his side bid to extend their five-match unbeaten run.
Guiseley will be confident after last weekend’s Trophy win, though Bower said: “We were flattered by the scoreline and we lost our discipline in the first half but in the second we played good football and were a joy to watch.”
Bower, who admits he would like to take six points from Saturday’s clash and the trip to Worcester on Tuesday, wants to maintain his side’s upward curve.
He said: “We are playing some good football and there is more confidence among the squad.
“With both Oxford and Worcester being below us in the table, it is easy to say that these are games we should win but I know that these will be tough tests.
“Oxford City have some dangerous forwards and I believe they are probably in a false position at the moment.
“They made some very good signings in the summer but they had a lot of injury problems early on and they beat Stockport County recently.”
“We have had them watched and know that they carry a goal threat, while the trip to Worcester won’t be easy.”
