Albion Sports 3, Heanor Town 2
Albion Sports’ home game was delayed tonight as visitors Heanor Town struggled through the traffic on a wet and windy evening but it was still an all-action first half.
Albion banked all three points from the five-goal thriller in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Despite the late start, both teams were out of the blocks quickly and all of the goals came before the break.
The home side took a tenth-minute lead when Lee McGowan headed in but the Derbyshire outfit levelled just 30 seconds later.
Heanor edged in front midway through the first half but McGowan – who only made his debut on Saturday – headed Albion level, and skipper Asif Hussain netted the winner from a free kick on the edge of the area.
Eccleshill United’s League Cup first-round tie at home to Cleethorpes Town was postponed following another deluge at tea-time.
