Farsley 0, Warrington Town 3
Farsley dropped out of the Evo-Stik League play-off frame following a big home defeat to Division One North leaders Warrington.
The opening ten minutes were even and Farsley’s first opportunity came with a free-kick on the edge of the area.
But the visitors got their noses in front soon after as Chris Gaughan used his pace to break the deadlock.
There were few chances for either side but Warrington went 2-0 up through Craig Robinson and Scott Metcalfe netted a third right on the stroke of half-time.
Farsley boss Neil Parsley said: “Our performance didn’t warrant a 3-0 defeat but it would be disrespectful of me to say the scoreline flattered Warrington because they are a very good side.
“We didn’t play that badly but Warrington have come and done a job on us. They took their chances well.
“The first goal was a long punt that both my centre backs went for, the second I felt we could have dealt with the corner better and the third was a sucker-punch. It was our corner and they break away right on half-time.
“In the second half we hit the bar and had a strong penalty appeal turned down but we couldn’t get the breakthrough.
“We had five regular players missing for this game but we played well enough.
“Warrington are top and for a reason. They have a lot of big, strong players and are well organised.
“They will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season but they will still be made up to have come here and got three points.”
