Both Thackley and Brighouse Town will be in tomorrow morning’s draw for the third round of the FA Vase after winning their weekend ties.
It took Thackley an age to break down Armthorpe Welfare at Dennyfield but they eventually ran out comfortable 4-0 victors.
The first half was goalless but the deadlock should have been broken five minutes after the break.
The Doncaster outfit were awarded a penalty, for a handball offence that only the linesman had spotted, but Dennyboys keeper Matt Convey saved Daniel Taylor’s spot-kick.
Matty Hall swept home Thackley’s opening goal on the hour mark from Luke Richardson’s low centre.
They doubled the lead ten minutes from time when Chris Davey netted a fine individual goal.
Substitute Brendan Maltby added the third when he launched himself to connect with a Callum White cross and steer a diving header into the net.
Thackley wrapped up the win four minutes into stoppage time as Matt Mathers headed home a Davey corner.
Meanwhile, Brighouse won 2-0 away from home after also waiting a long time for their opening goal.
Town, who are Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division rivals of Thackley and Armthorpe Welfare, trod new ground as they travelled to take on North West Counties League Premier outfit Norton United.
The sides weighed each other up in what was a very even opening hour before Town sprung into life to win the tie with two goals in as many minutes.
Tom Matthews broke the deadlock in the 65th minute and a Ryan Hall strike then cemented the win.
Town and the Dennyboys banked £1,200 apiece for winning and are now in the last 64 clubs in the country, just five games away from the Wembley final.
