Bradford City’s women renew old rivalries with Leeds United when the sides meet at Thackley AFC on Sunday.
Both clubs need the points to pull away from the relegation zone in the Northern Section of the FA Women’s Premier League.
City have games in hand after recent postponements due to waterlogged grounds but a close encounter is expected.
In the absence of first-team action, City’s second string took the chance to steal the limelight as they climbed to the Premier League Reserve Division summit with a point from a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at Rawdon Meadows.
Recent signing Rachel Lee opened the scoring on her debut and Ellie Swinhoe added a second goal but Forest hit back and City, now unbeaten in seven games, were forced to settle for the draw.
A League Cup tie with Stoke City Reserves is next for City, while in the same competition Huddersfield Town Reserves – without a game last week – are at home to Wolves Reserves.
The Town first team were among several clubs hit by the weather last weekend when their Women’s FA Cup third qualifying-round tie with Stockport County was washed out.
Under competition rules, clubs must keep rescheduling for the following week until the ties are completed, so Town’s Northern Combination promotion bid has been put on hold while the two sides try again this weekend.
Also rescheduled is Leeds City Vixens’ tie at home to Whitley Bay, but Wakefield crashed 6-0 at Tranmere Rovers.
Already through to the first round proper are Brighouse Town, who have played as Kirklees Ladies until this season, after they won a 25-goal thriller against City of Manchester Ladies.
It finished 8-8 after extra time and 5-4 to Brighouse on penalties, with former Bradford City player Sonya Sweeney scoring five in open play for the winners.
Town will go to Chorley or Morecambe in round one on December 1 if they beat Stockport, while Brighouse are at Leeds City Vixens or Whitley Bay.
In the North East Regional League, new-look Guiseley finished 3-1 winners at York City after goals from Charlotte Proud, Polly Fildes and Tanya Rich to reclaim second place.
And Ossett Albion player-manager Nicky Davies, another former City star, is hoping her side can extend their four-match unbeaten run at second-placed Doncaster Belles.
A hat-trick from leading scorer Nicky Swift, backed up by a Sophie Langdale strike, gave Albion a 4-3 win over struggling Handsworth. They are already only two wins from bettering last season’s finish.
Bradford Park Avenue were unable to match the previous week’s 8-0 cup win over Wetherby Reserves and crashed 5-0 to Harrogate Railway in the West Riding League Premier Division.
They now take on Pontefract SSC at Horsfall Playing Fields. Joint-bottom rivals Ossett Town go to Silsden, who are also still looking for their first league win.
Dewsbury Rangers, second in Division Two after a 5-2 win at Wortley Reserves, travel to Thornes, while Division Three leaders Norristhorpe – who lost 4-2 at home to Middleton last week – are without a game.
The Bradford City A team, 7-2 winners over Keighley in a friendly, have a chance to overtake Norristhorpe if they can win at pointless Deighton.
