Thackley will be hoping for a little help from their friends as they try to reclaim top spot in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday.

The Dennyboys are expected to win at home to struggling Parkgate but will be relying on neighbours Liversedge if they are to climb back to the summit as Sedge travel to new leaders Tadcaster Albion.

Thackley are just two points off the top, while their visitors are third from bottom, and have three games in hand on Tadcaster.

But the Dennyboys will have to show management duo Lee Clapham and Dave Morgan that they are capable of a reaction after suffering their worst defeat of the season.

They travelled to Pickering Town last weekend and were stunned as the home side rattled in seven goals.

It was a costly defeat in more ways than one as Nicky Matthews was carried off and Matt Mathers, Lewis Moran and Chris Davey also picked up injuries.

Albion Sports know the size of their test this weekend as they host Pickering, who are up to eighth place.

The visitors will still be buoyant following their 7-2 hammering of Thackley and are two places above Kulwinder Sandhu’s men.

But Albion are on the same points total as Pickering and have three games in hand on them, so would overhaul their rivals with a home win.

Liversedge winning at Tadcaster will carry bigger odds as they are back in 16th position while pace-setters Taddy are the first club through the 40-point barrier.

Third-placed Brighouse Town are without a game this weekend.

Eccleshill United will be high on confidence as they head to lowly Rossington Main in Division One.

The fifth-placed Eagles beat higher-ranked Farsley in the West Riding County Cup last night and are 13 places higher up the table than Saturday’s hosts.

In the North West Counties League, Silsden host Congleton Town in a mid-table Premier Division battle.

The Cobbydalers are on a poor run of form and their Cheshire visitors have a four-point cushion over them with two games in hand.
