Midfielder Ross Daly is staying at Throstle Nest for the foreseeable future after his move from neighbours Bradford Park Avenue was made permanent.

Farsley boss Neil Parsley brought Daly to the Nest when he had injury worries and a glut of imminent suspensions. At the time it was seen as a stop-gap that benefited both clubs and the player but the goalposts have moved since then.

Parsley said: “Ross originally came to us on loan after I had spoken to John (Deacey, Avenue’s manager) and asked about him. John said Ross needed a couple of games to get fit enough to be back in contention for a starting place and I was ready to give him game time.

“The situation changed it terms of players coming in at Park Avenue and I think Ross felt his chances of playing regularly had diminished. It wasn’t a case of how many games Ross needed to get match fit anymore, it was about how many games he wanted to be playing.

“John and everyone at Park Avenue were very good about it and the decision was down to the player. Ross enjoys playing here, he knows a lot of the lads and he settled in well so he wanted us to sign him.”

Bradford have retained Daly’s registration for the Conference League and still refer to him as being out on loan but Deacey has given assurances that the player will not be suddenly recalled.

That suits Parsley and he considers Daly his player for the remainder of the campaign and hopes he will feature regularly.

Parsley added: “Ross is a quality player but he had his injury worries and that’s why he lost his place at Avenue.

“If they have signed players that are keeping Ross out then they must be good and, in a roundabout way, that’s Farsley’s gain.”
