The Yorkshire Amateur League continued their have boots, will travel policy in the FA National Inter-League Competition.

In what was their ninth successive away match in the tournament, they followed up their 1-0 victory over the Northampton Combination League with a 7-1 defeat of the Bedfordshire County League at Potton United.

The Yorkshire Amateur League side contained players from five different clubs - Leeds Medics & Dentists, Stanningley Old Boys, Ealandians, Gildersome Spurs Old Boys and Alwoodley - but the visitors were always in command after their meticulous preparation, with goals coming at regular intervals.

Debutant Ben Charlesworth started the rout in the tenth minute after excellent work by Matty Jackson, and the former had a hat-trick to his name by the 35th minute.

He headed home a Steve Tierney cross in the 27th minute and then converted a slide-rule pass from skipper Jackson.

Jackson added the fourth just before half-time after excellent approach play involving James Parkinson, James Greenwood and Dino Mulavdic.

After the interval, further goals came from Greenwood, via a 20-yard exocet, substitute James Allen on his debut, after great work by Greenwood, and Matty Jackson, with his second in the 89th minute after being unselfishly put through by Allen.

The only blot on the afternoon was conceding a goal with the last kick of the match but earlier keeper Dan Heaps had dealt well with three teasingly-flighted corners, as well as making a superb point-blank save.
