Liversedge 3 Armthorpe Welfare 4

Liversedge lost a seven-goal thriller to an 87th-minute winner as they and Armthorpe both finished their FA Vase first-round tie with reduced numbers.

Sedge twice led and hit a late equaliser but the visitors stunned Clayborn.

Just when the tie looked destined for extra-time, Armthorpe’s Jay Rollins struck to overshadow Gibril Bojang’s hat-trick.

Bojang gave the home side a fifth-minute lead but Darren Manarsam levelled soon after. Bojang put Sedge back in front in the 20th minute but that was cancelled out by Garry Munday as the sides reached the break all square.

Armthorpe went in front when David Buck scored with just 20 minutes remaining but Bojang was not finished and he ensured the sides were back on terms with just eight minutes left.

The clubs had met the previous week in the league, at the same venue, and that had finished in a draw and everyone was gearing up for another 30 minutes of action until Rollins’ late goal finally settled it.

The incident that saw both sides having players sent off came in the 75th minute. Sedge’s Matthew Bugg and Armthorpe’s Craig Morley were given straight red cards while Sam Dibb was shown a second yellow card.

Sedge spokesman John Hewitt said: “It was handbags really, the players were holding each other down – nothing nasty just foolish.”
