Silsden 3, Alsager Town 2
A Mikey Hall hat-trick saw Silsden’s mini-revival continue as they eased back up the North West Counties League Premier Division table.
The gangly striker might well be over six and a half feet tall but it was his feet that proved his biggest asset.
Hall scored all three goals on the floor, the first with the deftest of touches.
A through ball from Anthony Lynch in the 12th minute had Alsager’s goalkeeper advancing off his line but Hall reached it first and flicked it into the unguarded net.
It was soon all square as the side from the Potteries capitalised on a poor back pass that put the home defence under pressure.
Jordan Flattley nipped in to steal the ball and round keeper Ed Hall before slotting in the equaliser.
Silsden’s Andy Hill rattled the crossbar with a fierce free-kick three minutes before the break.
Chris Wademan pounced on the rebound but his effort was well parried by Alsager keeper Stuart Heeps, only for Hall to back-heel the ball into the net.
Hall completed his treble early in the second half with a neat side-foot to convert Ben Crabtree’s cross.
Crabtree inadvertently turned an Angelo Errico cross past his own keeper in the penultimate minute but it did not stop the Cobbydalers celebrating a deserved victory.
