A pair of Bingley golfers are just one step away from a dream all expenses paid trip to the Algarve as they compete for a prestigious national amateur title.
Richard and Susan Greenough, who play at Shipley Golf Club, are through to the regional mixed pairs final of the HowDidiDo National Matchplay Championship.
This takes place at the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa in Whitchurch, Shropshire, next Thursday, with the goal of qualifying for the grand final in the Algarve in February.
Should they qualify they would enjoy complimentary return flights to Faro, six nights’ accommodation at the stunning four-star Monte da Quinta Club and five days of golf on the renowned South and Laranjal courses, with the prestigious HowDidiDo National Matchplay title up for grabs.
Four competitions culminate at the grand final – singles, pairs, mixed pairs and senior pairs, with a total of 32 players from across the UK fighting it out for the titles.
Each pair will have played up to four qualifying rounds merely to reach the regional final, with the knockout rounds taking place between June and September.
