City have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Andrew Davies will miss the next three to four months.

The hugely-influential centre half went under the knife for an operation yesterday after his long-standing knee problem flared up again.

Davies had been struggling in the build-up to the Walsall game and his knee ballooned afterwards.

City had the problem area examined and decided that surgery was the only option. It mirrors this time last season when he suffered the injury at Burton and did not return until February.

His absence leaves them with only ONE centre half, Luke Oliver, for Sunday's game against Tranmere. He is likely to be partnered by Nathan Doyle.
