A charity drive covering all 92 league grounds in 92 hours will hit Valley Parade on Sunday morning.

Bradford City will be the 39th stop on the route which begins and ends at Wembley Stadium.

The 92plus1 challenge hits the road straight after England’s World Cup qualifier against Montenegro tomorrow – and aims to return just in time for their game with Poland on Tuesday.

The four-man squad will be driving 2,600 miles in aid of Help for Heroes – two of those taking part, Darren Young and Mark Burns, have military experience. Football fans and businessmen Simon Cox and Mike Peters complete the fundraising group.

Brentford supporter Cox said: “It’s the ultimate football fan’s dream but it’s also emotional for us because the cause is particularly close to the hearts of Darren and Mark.

“It’s our way of giving back to those brave guys. At the end of the day, somebody had to do the job they do and we don’t see a lot of what they have to put up with.

“I’ve never been to Valley Parade before or Old Trafford or York City or Fleetwood. But we won’t be staying anywhere long.

“The schedule is so tight that it’s literally a case of getting to the ground, take a picture to prove you’ve been there and then hit the road again for the next one.”

They have set a target of raising £10,000 but believe there is a good chance of beating that.

Cox added: “Forty three million people follow football in this country. Even if one per cent of those donated a pound, just imagine the substantial difference that would make. We’re just four guys in our late 30s and early 40s looking to do our bit for a very worthy cause. It’s going to be emotional but it’s also going to be very demanding.

“We’ve set a route but obviously that will be altered if there are any traffic problems. We haven’t got a back-up as such so if anyone does hear of any trouble on the roads, we’re encouraging them to get in touch with us.”

All being well, their estimated time of arrival at Valley Parade on Sunday is 8.37am.
