Bradford Park Avenue and Guiseley are set to benefit to the tune of £11,313 each as their share of a fund from FA Cup replays.
Each year, clubs outside the Football League who reach the first round of the competition are guaranteed a windfall pay-out from the FA pool. Every club involved in latter-round replays pay five per cent of the revenue from those extra games into the pot.
The total from last year’s competition is at a record high, with top clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all being taken to replays.
Avenue and the Lions will have budgeted for the coming season knowing they were due to receive a sum of money but both will have been pleasantly surprised by last week’s announcement from the Football Association once the final sums had been done.
Meanwhile, the summer may only just be beginning but supporters of the local semi-professional outfits will not have long to wait for their teams to be back in action.
Several of them have already contacted players with dates to report back for training and two have confirmed their pre-season games.
Farsley will be quick off the mark as their first friendly is at Throstle Nest against Leeds United five weeks from now on Saturday July 6, while Guiseley have confirmed that their build-up will start with a home game against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday, July 17.
Farsley’s opener should be a money-spinner for the Evo-Stik League Division One outfit as neighbours Leeds have promised that they will be sending their first-team squad.
It will be the first chance for United fans to see how new manager Brian McDermott has reshaped the squad he inherited from Neil Warnock.
It will also be an interesting game for the home supporters as Farsley boss Neil Parsley is committed to a summer of rebuilding after a poor season last term.
